The Monkey has quickly established itself as a spring favourite throughout Scotland and has, once again, being chalking up more than its share of springers in the early season. As night follows day, patterns evolve and variants emerge; its all part of the fun of fly tying. Alan Greene has been pulling a few out of the Tummel at Portnacraig on his tying of the Tummel Monkey. This is a variant created by our pal Donnie Whiteford, who based it on the Orange Rapala. Donnie is now based at the excellent Garynahine Estate on the Isle of Lewis
